SHC donations to benefit area schools and students

September 20, 2024 - MOUNT STERLING, KY - Sterling Health Care (SHC) delivered a welcomed financial boost to five area school districts in recent weeks with provision of a total $13,500 in check presentations to its School-Based Health Program participants. The donations are given to assist SHC’s school-based partners in covering the costs of game-day admissions for students to athletic competitions at the school, eliminating financial concerns for some while providing equal enjoyment opportunities for all.

“We are very excited to team up with Sterling Health Care for school-based health services again this year, and really appreciate the way they step up for every student in the district through this donation and in so many other ways,” said Dr. Jennifer Kincaid, principal of Powell County High School. “Fairness and equal opportunities are such critical pieces of the whole school experience and these funds reflect a commitment to helping us provide those principles to all of our students.”

SHC Chief Executive Officer Tina Bryant says it is a young tradition for SHC that goes to the heart of the organization’s mission.

“These donations represent so much more than a financial gift. It is an effort to help students who may not have the chance otherwise to enjoy a valuable part of the school experience and enjoy an evening at a game with friends. As I’ve said many times before, Sterling Health Care is very thankful for the opportunities these school districts afford us to help meet the needs of students, as well as their faculty and staff. We feel this is a small part we can do to further enrich the health and total well-being of students during this important time in their lives.”

School districts receiving the donations were Montgomery County, Bath County, Bourbon County, Nicholas County, and Powell County. All are participants in the SHC School-Based Health Program, which includes this donation initative as part of its continual efforts to assist in the health and well-being of students, faculty and staff. The program is currently in its fourth year of operation.
