Sterling Health Care Earns National Recognition

OCTOBER 12, 2021 - MT. STERLING, KY - Sterling Health Care (SHC) has been recognized by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) for being a top provider of “Community Health Quality” in 2021. The distinction is given to health centers ranking among the top 30 percent nationally for best overall clinical performance.

“We are very proud of this award and what it represents for the communities we serve,” said SHC Chief Executive Officer Tina Bryant. “This recognition reflects the commitment of our medical providers and staff to provide quality healthcare to patients who may or may not be able to afford it. In this unprecedented time of families worrying about their health and the well-being of their loved ones, we want them to rest assured that Sterling Health Care is here to help.

“I would especially like to commend Chief Executive Officer Dr. Richard Hall and Quality Director BJ Bussell for their leadership in attainment of this award,” Bryant added. “Their tireless efforts have established a high standard for our organization.”

This program recognizes award recipients that have made notable quality improvement achievements in the areas of access, quality, health equity, and health information technology for the most recent Uniform Data System (UDS) reporting period. To be eligible, health centers must:

  • Submit annual UDS data on time;
  • Use electronic health records (EHRs) to report on clinical quality measures and patient populations;
  • Resolve any progressive action conditions as of July 2021; and
  • Be an active Health Center program awardee or look-alike.

According to the HRSA, health centers have delivered affordable, accessible, quality, and value-based primary health care to millions of people regardless of their ability to pay. Health centers serve 1 in 11 people across the country, and they lead the nation in driving quality improvement and reducing health care costs for America’s taxpayers. Today, HRSA funds nearly 1,400 health centers with more than 13,500 service delivery sites in every U.S. state, U.S. territory, and the District of Columbia. In 2020, more than 255,000 full-time staff served nearly 29 million patients.

Sterling Health Care’s mission is to improve the lives for all people in the communities we serve, through improved health, regardless of their ability to pay.
