SHC joins Parks and Recreation team to celebrate Gateway 250 5K

August 8, 2026 - Sterling Health Care wrapped up its observation of National Health Center Week on Saturday with a very busy day at the annual Small Town America Festival, as well as its first sponsorship of the festival's 5 kilometer run held in the morning.

A total of 132 participants took part in the Gateway 250 5K, held in the Silver Creek residential community and coordinated by the Mount Sterling - Montgomery County Parks and Recreation Department. Starting just past 8 am, the field was led from start to finish by returning winner Meshach Lawson who finished the course in 18:04.7. Overall second-place finisher Elijah Johnson kept the pressure on throughout and crossed the finish line one stride behind in an equally impressive 18:04.9. All participants were spared from blistering temperatures as overcast skies and a cooling breeze were felt for much of the race.

Tina Bryant, SHC Chief Executive Officer, and Donna Raper, SHC Chief Administrative Officer, were on hand to assist with race operations and hand out door prizes to several selected winners at the conclusion. SHC's Events Committee was represented by Alicia Bowman, Megan Rapier, and Jeff Pinkerton.
