JUNE 22, 2023 - MT. STERLING, KY - Three Sterling Health Care (SHC) clinics have each received notification that all requirements have been met and they have sustained recognition as a Patient-Centered Medical Home by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). Those receiving the accreditation renewal with the Federally Qualified Health Organization were Mount Sterling (main campus), Indian Mound and Carlisle.
“This is a very important designation for our providers, staff, and our patients, and we are proud to sustain this professional standing,” said SHC Chief Executive Officer Tina Bryant. “This recognition reflects the commitment of our medical providers and staff throughout the organization to provide quality healthcare to patients who may or may not be able to afford it.”
Additional SHC clinics are currently in other phases of the accreditation process but expected to receive similar news in the near future.
Founded as an independent non-profit in 1990, the NCQA studies how well health plans and doctors provide scientifically-recommended care, and identifies organizations that are run in ways that make care better. The company’s website emphasizes that “a medical home is not a place, but a way to organize primary care so it’s ‘the way patients want it to be.’” The NCQA has built the most widely used medical home model since 2008, with more than 10,000 practice sites and 50,000 clinicians earning the NCQA PCMH Recognition Seal.
Accreditations are valid for one year and must be earned through a new application process annually.
