JUNE 1, 2022 - MT. STERLING, KY - With significant changes to Sterling Health Care’s internal landscape occurring in the past few years, it only stood to reason that the physical landscape would change soon as well.
Construction initiated in November 2021 is paving the way for planned expansion by the Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), which has served Kentucky’s Gateway Region since October 2012. The addition of several new services, programs and nearly 100 employees since 2019 created the need for more space which is materializing at new facilities in Mount Sterling and Carlisle.
“We have always been both grateful and excited to serve our communities in Montgomery and surrounding counties,” said Sterling Health Care (SHC) Chief Executive Officer Tina Bryant. “Improving the lives of people in the communities we serve is not only important to us as a medical provider, but also because we’re able to help our friends, neighbors and welcomed patients that we may be meeting for the first time. If we are to continue that mission to the fullest potential possible, expansion was essential in these two communities.”
Located just a few hundred yards from the current location at 2330 Concrete Road, the new facility will offer expanded services (dental, pharmacy and X-ray) and more than twice the room for patients, staff and providers. The address of the 9,400-square-foot facility will be 1355 Concrete Road.
“Spacing aside, we’re excited to offer new services and this new facility to our patients in and around Nicholas County,” Bryant added. “We believe this is going to afford us many more opportunities to serve not only the patients there, but add additional opportunities for growth of community involvement and our school-based health program in the district.”
Under the oversight of Codell-Construction Management in Winchester, construction is proceeding ahead of schedule at this point and is expected to be complete in early 2023.
Consolidation is the theme for the new 20,000-square-foot facility being constructed in Mount Sterling. Located directly behind Sterling Women’s Care and Montgomery Dental Center at 635 Maysville Road, the new facility ultimately will incorporate the services, staff, and providers of three current SHC clinics in the city: Indian Mound, ‘The Hill’ (the original campus), and the Urgent Treatment Center.
“Quite simply, we’ve been looking forward to this vision becoming reality for quite a while,” said Bryant. “This is an incredible step forward not only for us as an organization but, more importantly, for all of our patients. We pride ourselves on treating the whole person – physically, emotionally, mentally – and meeting their needs without placing an overwhelming financial burden on them. This facility will bring a number of those services together, while being adjacent to two of our other clinics offering the same great services they always have. The construction of this facility fits our mission and makes perfect sense for Mount Sterling.
“We can’t wait to open its doors.”
Construction of this facility is expected to be complete by mid-summer of 2023.
Sterling Health Care’s mission is to improve the lives for all people in the communities we serve, through improved health, regardless of their ability to pay.
