Several types of health checks were available to those at the fair, including blood glucose checks, blood pressure checks, and vaccinations. Sterling Health Care (SHC) provided a sponsorship of $1,000 to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bluegrass (BBBS), LLC for the Montgomery County Community Bowl at Sterling Lanes on Sunday, May 5. Several teams from SHC ultimately participated in the event, which will support the organization in providing positive role models to at-risk children throughout the region. Through four main programs, BBBS pairs adults with children ages 6-13 in order to build personal relationships that allow the children to reach their potential. Sterling Health Care (SHC) partnered with the Bath County community and its School Board of Education to hold an Autism Acceptance Walk on the evening of April 17. The event featured several speakers, activities for different age groups, and the presence of several vendors for attendees to meet with and gather information. Sterling Health Care (SHC) provided two bicycles to winners of the Kiwanis Club of Powell County Egg Hunt held March 24. The event, held at the Lions Club Park in Stanton, featured several egg hunts for various age divisions, with a total of 58 prizes donated by the event’s sponsors. Children in attendance also got the chance to meet the Easter Bunny after the contests took place. Coaches and players from Bath County High School met with members of the Sterling Health Care (SHC) team on Friday afternoon for a ceremonial check presentation. SHC has donated $3,000 to the Bath County High School Softball Program for a much-anticipated Leadoff Dinner that will welcome ESPN analyst and 3-time NCAA national champion Jenny Dalton-Hill as the featured speaker. Sterling Health Care recently partnered with St. Elizabeth Healthcare to make mammographies mobile recently, offering scheduled visits at the SHC-Owingsville and SHC-Carlisle clinics. The mobile digital mammography service provides life-saving opportunities on several occasions throughout the year. Hoops 4 Health, a new health outreach activity sponsored by Sterling Health Care (SHC), launched on Feb. 9 when Montgomery County and Paris City met for a pair of basketball games between its boys’ and girls’ teams. Several members of SHC’s clinical team provided health checks such as blood pressure readings and blood glucose level checks to any interested fans attending the game.
